La coesistenza della biodiversità e delle attività umane: il ruolo dei Giardini Zoologici

La conservazione della biodiversità, insieme alla sfida ai cambiamenti climatici, è uno dei più importanti obiettivi ambientali da perseguire nelle strategie internazionali e locali al fine di preservare la funzionalità e i servizi offerti dagli ecosistemi naturali.
Con questo workshop internazionale, la Fondazione Bioparco vuole supportare la strategia dell'UE per arrestare la perdita di biodiversità (La nostra assicurazione sulla vita, il nostro capitale naturale: l'UE strategia per la biodiversità entro il 2020 (COM (2011) 244) ed evidenziare il ruolo chiave che i giardini zoologici e gli acquari possono svolgere dal momento che in Europa, tali strutture vengono visitate annualmente da circa  140 milioni di visitatori.


Il workshop prevede la traduzione per gli interventi in lingua straniera.

Workshop: “Living together: biodiversity and human activities: the role of  the zoos”

Biodiversity conservation, together with the challenge against climate change, is one of the most important environmental goals to be pursued in the international and local environmental strategies, in order to preserve functionality and services of natural ecosystems that ensure human well-being.

The Bioparco Foundation wants to support the new EU strategy to halt biodiversity loss ('Our life insurance, our natural capital: EU Biodiversity Strategy to 2020 (COM (2011) 244)), by holding this international workshop aimed at enhancing the key role that zoos and aquariums can play in the framework of local strategies for the conservation of biodiversity.

Every year European zoos and aquariums host a total of 140 million visitors (about 20% of the EU population), and play a very propulsive action in the cultural process on environment and biodiversity awareness.

The increase in awareness on urban biodiversity can support the understanding of urban ecosystem services and their influence on environmental quality and economy of cities. In this perspective, it is important to discuss about the role played by zoos and aquaria in communicating urban biodiversity towards citizens and decision makers.
