In more than 100 years of history, the Bioparco underwent drastic changes, evolving from a simple exotic exhibition centre of animals into an active promoter of biodiversity conservation through the conservation of endangered species, environmental education and scientific research in line with the rules of a “modern” zoo.

Member of EAZA (European Association of Zoos and Aquaria) and WAZA (World Association of Zoos and Aquariums) it collaborates with other international zoos to safeguard endangered species.
